Moments With Nature

Vincent Van Gogh – Artists’ Catalogue

Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch impressionist painter with a fascinating life and an extensive body of work.

When designing this artist’s catalogue, I selected work by organizing each section around a chapter in the artists’ life. These chapters include: the artist’s biography, his formative years spent in Paris, a period of convalescence in Arles, life in the Yellow House and Paul Gaugin’s visit, and his final days in Auvers-sur-Oise.

I limited the featured work to natural subject matter, because through my research I discovered the artists’ deep appreciation for the natural world and the sense of spirituality with which it provided him. The accent colors seen in certain typographic elements were pulled directly from the featured body of work in order to maintain continuity throughout the pages. Additionally, I chose to include copy in van Gogh’s handwriting to evoke sense of place and urge the reader to form a deeper connection to the artists’ work.

Catalogue Dimensions are 13 x 11".
