Book Cover Design
Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott
Little Women (1868) is a coming-of-age novel about four sisters living in post-Civil War era Massachusetts that explores themes of femininity, growth, and resilience.
Inspired by these concepts, I selected a neutral tone for the cover that would have been realistic at the time of publication. The flowers were created using digitally, adding a contemporary quality. The four types of flowers featured here were inspired by the meticulous scientific research and botanical sketches of Henry David Thoreau, who was a schoolteacher of the author. These types of flowers grows in Concord, the novel’s setting, and aim to represent each of the four March sisters and their strong-willed individuality.
